Doctrines of Salvation 2:67; “FAMILY UNIT CONTINUES ONLY IN CELESTIAL KINGDOM…We believe that the family will go on. I get a great deal of comfort out of the thought that if I am faithful and worthy of an exaltation, my father will be my father, and I will be subject to him as his son through all eternity; that I will recognize and know my mother and she will be my mother in all eternity; and my brothers and sisters will be my brothers and sisters for all eternity; and that my children and my wives will be mine in eternity. I don’t know how some other people feel, but that is a glorious thought to me. That helps to keep me sober.” – Joseph Fielding Smith
Mark 12:24-25; “And Jesus answering said unto them, Do ye not therefore err, because ye know not the scriptures, neither the power of God? 25 For when they shall rise from the dead, they neither marry, nor are given in marriage; but are as the angels which are in heaven.”
While preparing our post yesterday about Christmas ornaments and Mormon occult items, one of their ornaments reminded me of what God’s word tells us! The words of Mr. Smith were nothing but lies, and most tragically, he knew that when he spoke them. He chose to do this regardless of the fact people like my own mother listened to, and believed every word he said.
Oddly enough, when I recently discussed her family’s polygamous background, she immediately became defensive, if not downright insulted by my observation that her great-grandfather had five wives.
Sadder still, is how the Church continues to perpetuate and repackage, these very same lies today. Internet sites like Pinterest, and others, are awash with memes proudly displaying the ‘Families are Forever’ regalia, while their creators either ignore, or haven’t read, what Jesus had to say about the matter.
Pray that Jesus will begin softening their hearts to be open enough to hear the truth, and accept it when they do!
With Love in Christ;
Michelle
I pray for mormons, including my daughter and her family and my brothers. I also pray that the church will fall under the weight of its lies. The lies are so easily exposed but the church merrily rolls along. Families Are Forever….baloney. That would be calling God’s word a lie. When I asked my mormon daughter about that truth in the Bible, she said there will be no marriage performed in heaven so one must go to the temple on earth. The twists and turns necessary to make the lies I once believed work are heartbreaking to me now.
Hi Sandra, it’s so heartbreaking. There is no where in the Bible that God promises eternal forever families. Because of our worldly nature most of us may tend to focus on being with our loved ones in heaven then where our primary focus should be. Our focus should be solely on our gracious God. My prayers go out to you and your family.
Have a blessed week and Christmas
Melissa
Thanks…….praying for all lost people. The Lord has chosen whom He has chosen. Praying that they respond to His call. Blessed Christmas to you as well. Sandra
