Was Joseph Smith the ‘Voice Crying in the Wilderness’?

The two Bible verses listed below serve as two more reasons why Mormonism is NOT a Christian organization! Please know that if you’re LDS, we don’t say these thing lightly. It’s not said in malice, nor is it stated with an agenda to bash and humiliate the Mormon people. To us, this is devastating.

We pray that if you’re LDS, you read the info for yourself to make a determination. We do not want you to take our word for it – check it out, and verify it to see what God has to say about this subject!!

Isaiah 40:3; “The voice of him that crieth in the wilderness, Prepare ye the way of the LORD, make straight in the desert a highway for our God.”

Isaiah 40:9; “O Zion, that bringest good tidings, get thee up into the high mountain; O Jerusalem, that bringest good tidings, lift up thy voice with strength; lift it up, be not afraid; say unto the cities of Judah, Behold your God!”

Those verses were written c. BC 701, and fulfilled c. 27 AD by John the Baptist. For a moment, think about the miracle in this prophecy. I, for one, am humbled in gratitude for what He’s done!

Shockingly, Mormons believe Joseph Smith’s claim that he was the voice crying in the wilderness.

Voice of the One Crying in the Wilderness

Discourses of Joseph Smith, p. 200; “I am the voice of one crying in the wilderness, “Repent ye of your sins and prepare the way for the coming of the Son of Man; for the kingdom of God has come unto you, and henceforth the ax is laid unto the root of the tree; and every tree that bringeth not forth good fruit, God Almighty (and not Joe Smith) shall hew it down and cast it into the fire.” (HC 6:273-274.)” – March 24, 1844

If this wasn’t bad enough, they’ve also believed the words of their apostles like Heber Kimball, who declared that someday everyone will believe Joe Smith is their god.

Joseph Smith a god

Journal of Discourses 5:88; “You call us fools: but the day will be, gentlemen and ladies, whether you belong to this Church or not, when you will prize brother Joseph Smith as the Prophet of the Living God, and look upon him as a God, and also upon Brigham Young, our Governor in the Territory of Deseret.” – Heber C. Kimball, Salt Lake City, July 26, 1857

For further info on how elaborate this belief turned out to be, see our Witnessing Tip of the Day scheduled for December 29th!

If you’re a Christian, please pray God will open eyes of the Mormon people!

With Love in Christ;

Michelle
