Who Ordered Polygamy; God, or Joe Smith?

  They Knew the Prophet, p. 87; “…He said, “When I speak as a man it is Joseph only that speaks. But when the Lord speaks through me, it is no more Joseph Smith who speaks; but it is God, and let all Israel hear.”” – Hyrum L. Andrus and Helen Mae Andrus, comps.

Jeremiah 14:14; “Then the Lord said unto me, The prophets prophesy lies in my name: I sent them not, neither have I commanded them, neither spake unto them: they prophesy unto you a false vision and divination, and a thing of nought, and the deceit of their heart.”

Some things never change…

Although this passage in Jeremiah is time specific, it can be used today as a good reminder to guard ourselves against those who are still trying to pass off the same lies they did 2,400 yrs ago.

Questions for Mormons:

Why did the Mormon god need someone in the 20th century to edit what he supposedly wrote from BC 600 – 421 AD?

If it wasn’t the Mormon god who made the mistakes in the Book of Mormon, who did?

Re, Polygamy: Why did the Mormon god have to break his new and everlasting covenant of polygamy he pronounced through Mr. Smith? Was polygamy the words and ideas of man (aka, Joe Smith), or the Mormon god?

If the polygamy revelation truly came from god, why did he change the meaning of the phrase, ‘the New and Everlasting Covenant’?

Dear Mormon friends, did you know…

Before Smith tagged polygamy with that specific title, the phrase had only been used in reference to God’s relational partnership with man, whom He created. This phrase came about at the time God told the prophet Jeremiah He was going to institute another venue of communicating with man by placing His Spirit inside each believer beginning at the time of Pentecost. See Jeremiah chapters 31-34, & Acts 2:1-4.

After looking at two very important events in Mormon history, can you definitively say who was speaking when?

If God was truly speaking through Joe Smith while translating the BoM, you have the right to ask why this god would make so many mistakes! To date, there are more than 5,200 edits to the BoM, that have markedly changed its narrative.

If God was truly speaking through Joe Smith while mandating polygamy as the sole means of salvation, why did it become illegal, and why aren’t members of the mainstream LDS Church in Salt Lake City, practicing it today?

We ask these things in all sincerity, and humility. They’re aren’t meant to incite a mean-spirited exchange, rather, they’ve been asked to encourage Mormons to think things through. Please know we pray for you daily and hope to see the day when you’ll have a saving knowledge of Christ Jesus and Him crucified.

With Love in Christ;

Michelle
