Today’s post has nothing to do with Mormonism.
Rather, today’s post is a plea for Christians to pray for elected officials who govern our communities.
Yesterday, the Governor of Washington signed a new bill into law.
The bill had several agendas as they usually do, and while I don’t make a habit of voicing my political opinion, I’d be remorse by not doing so this time around.
Governor Jay Inslee signed a bill that would toughen laws against discrimination. In particular, women’s rights to have fair pay for equal work.
Let me say right off the bat, I haven’t a problem at all with this.
However, the other part of the bill passed was to give greater access to reproductive rights for women (as if they don’t have enough of that here), and to grant more recuperation time from procedures like abortion.
Now, if you want to give workers time off for medical reasons, have at it.
My HUGE concern about this bill is this –
If you’ve made a law against discrimination, why pray tell, have you just given a wholesale thumbs up to the discrimination of the unborn?
Why aren’t they afforded the same?
Isn’t it discrimination to kill the child you don’t want?
If you killed them by any other means, you and I wouldn’t be having this conversation.
That’s how many young people lost their lives in 2016 just from abortion. Where are the people decrying this atrocity? We’ve seen massive protests sweeping the country over school shootings, and RIGHTLY SO!!!
Why aren’t people protesting like this for the babies?
And by the way, Mr. Inslee has put a moratorium on the death penalty here.
Pray for our elected officials to make better decisions than what we’ve seen here in Washington.
With Love in Christ;
Michelle
But he approves the death penalty for babies. What a Hypocrite. Talk about terrorists and mass murderers, politicians like this should be at the top of the list.
Michelle,
You are so right on — this horrific injustice makes me think of Psalm 94:20-21:…. “Can a throne of destruction be allied with Thee, One which devises mischief by decree?…. They band themselves together against the life of the righteous, And condemn the innocent to death.” NASB
This Psalm goes on to say that God surely will destroy them in their evil… God has promised to uphold us in our grief because of His great love for us… For now, we can know that our LORD hears and sees absolutely everything they are doing…. And His justice will bring them to their eternal ruin.
Thank you for all your posts….. I’ve been following them for a number of years and keep my faith in our Savior’s all-knowing love and guidance….. Our LORD knows how to lead the sheep of His pasture….. We can only trust Him as we travel through this dark world of sin of every sort….. He alone is our Victory — and so we can have the peace our Savior affords us.
Love in Christ,
Margaret
Thanks for your kind words Miss Margaret!
The abortion thing just drives me crazy…I’ll never understand it, and have the deepest empathy for those who have done so. Those who read my blog’/site know…
May our Lord intervene in the lives of those who can’t do so for themselves.
