Deuteronomy 18:15 “The LORD thy God will raise up unto thee a Prophet from the midst of thee, of thy brethren, like unto me; unto him ye shall hearken”.
This Mormon reference has to be one of the most egregious statements ever made by Joe Smith. All Christians know this is a Messianic Prophecy. It also serves as a reminder for everyone to keep their eyes on truth. The last statement, ‘unto him ye shall hearken’ wasn’t an absentminded intent to fill an empty page with meaningless words, beloved!
This is an example of Smith writing himself into scripture. Mormons, then and now, believe Nephi prophesied God would eventually send the impoverished farm boy from upstate NY, to fill in where Jesus failed.
Moreover, this is blatant plagiarism!
The timeframe for the BoM verse supposedly happened c. BC 588-570.
In reality, Moses wrote it 800 years earlier, c. BC 1406.
