Last week as I was gathering info from the Church’s site, I came across their definition for Adam and Eve. As a heads up, here’s the chain of links I went through to get to what was supposed to be a simple thing…
You can find this info in their section, ‘Lesson Helps for Teaching Children’, and then from there the real info is found in ‘Friend, ‘Our First Parents,’ February 1973’. We’ve taken just a few of the most pertinent things they said. To read their article in full, see link above.
The Church’s definition for both names, (Adam and Eve), is far from correct! For me this is just heartbreaking. Why can’t they just tell the truth???
LDS Lies ~
‘Adam and his wife, Eve, were the first people Heavenly Father and His Son, Jesus Christ, placed on the newly created earth. Adam’s name means many, for all who have ever lived upon the earth, or who will live upon the earth, are the children of this great and intelligent man. Eve was the first mother of the human family, and her name means mother of all living.’

The transliteration for Adam is ʾādām. Here’s how Strong’s defined his name. As you can see it’s the exact opposite of what the Church claims –
“from <H119> (‘adam); ruddy, i.e. a human being (an individual or the species, mankind, etc.) :- × another, + hypocrite, + common sort, × low, man (mean, of low degree), person”
The transliteration for Eve is ḥawwâ. Strong’s defined it this way –
“causative from <H2331> (chavah); life-giver; Chavvah (or Eve), the first woman :- Eve.”
LDS Lies ~
“…one day Satan tempted Eve and Adam, and they disobeyed the Lord. …One day Adam and Eve again heard the voice of the Lord commanding them to offer sacrifices to Him. Our first earthly parents were happy to hear from the Lord again. They obeyed His commandment and built an altar and made offerings as they had been told. And together they worshiped the Lord.
After many days an angel of the Lord appeared to Adam and asked him why he offered sacrifices to the Lord.
“I don’t know,” Adam answered, “except the Lord commanded me.”
The angel explained that the sacrifices were to remind Adam and Eve that someday Jesus Christ would come to earth…The angel also told Adam that he should repent of his sins and be baptized, that Adam and his family should keep all the commandments given to them, and that they should pray forever to our Heavenly Father in the name of Jesus Christ.
Adam was baptized and his heart was filled with joy. He exclaimed, “Blessed be the name of God, for because of my transgression my eyes are opened, and in this life shall I have joy, and again in the flesh I shall see God.”
Adam told Eve all that the angel had made known to him. And Adam and Eve rejoiced together and blessed the name of God…”
Truth ~
Who baptized Adam?
Why would Adam need to be baptized if Jesus wasn’t born yet?
Why would they offer sacrifices without knowing why they were doing this?
Offering sacrifices to God at an altar, and being baptized, is a major contradiction!!!
The Church has lied to these children so they don’t have to talk about the ultimate sacrifice of Jesus shedding His blood on the cross. If/when they do this, their excuse for making people work for salvation is gone and they have no reason to be a so-called Christian organization.
Pray for the kids, won’t you?
With Love in Christ;
Michelle
This is why you always be sure to define terms when dealing with a cult. They may sound like they are saying the same thing, but defining terms proves differently.
