June 30 – 2 Peter 2:1; “But there were false prophets also among the people, even as there shall be false teachers among you, who privily shall bring in damnable heresies, even denying the Lord that bought them, and bring upon themselves swift destruction.”

The ‘prophecy’ in today’s lesson of the Mormon writings is a false one. Not everyone in the world has heard of Joseph Smith.
_____
“The ends of the earth shall inquire after thy name, and fools shall have thee in derision, and hell shall rage against thee”. D&C 122:1.
The D&C verse you reference above does not say “everyone in the world.” It says “ends of the earth.” Mormon missionaries have traveled far and wide, sharing Smith’s stories on every continent save Antarctica, and I wouldn’t be surprised to learn that they have been shared there as well. Moreover, the LDS church has a very active Internet “ministry” with translations in many of the world’s major languages. Given all of the above, It would be hard to argue that this doesn’t meet the “ends of the earth” metric of this 1839 verse. Finally, this post alone essentially “fulfills” the last two segments of 122:1, with perhaps the exception of the “rag(ing)” bit.
If you truly want to be effective in evangelizing members of the LDS church, or equipping your fellow Christians to engage and respond to Mormons, you need to stick with the key arguments and evidences. There are more than enough issues to cause any thoughtful Mormon to begin to contemplate if not question their beliefs.

Hello & thanks for writing to us at Life After Ministries!
I’m obviously in disagreement with your argument here.
You stated ‘The D&C verse you reference above does not say “everyone in the world.” It says “ends of the earth.”’, and then elaborated on how missionaries have traveled all parts of the earth except Antarctica … It sounds to me like you’re trying to shift the focus of the topic.
As for ‘sticking with key arguments and evidence’, THIS is the evidence. The ends of the earth, meaning ALL people, have not heard of Joe Smith. I’ve met people here in the States that have never heard of him. Moreover, after living abroad and traveling extensively, I’m also confident this prophecy is untrue,
