Acts 17:26 “And hath made of one blood all nations of men for to dwell on all the face of the earth, and hath determined the times before appointed, and the bounds of their habitation”.
Matthew 28:19 “Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost”.
I’ve always wondered why the Church went overseas, and converted members of my family into their fold. They weren’t ‘white and delightsome’, nor did they have money. My great-grandmother was 17 years old, dark, and a non-English speaking, tea drinking citizen of Wales. She had nothing to offer a rich, white society in a far away land with gold paved streets.
Decades after she immigrated to the States, she was still a dark, non-English speaking tea drinker. Although it’s not known if she picked up on the racist ideologies, it was definitely a factor in the next generation she gave birth to.
One of her daughters was my grandmother who talked incessantly about the low status of being a dark Mormon. She, and her twin brother, were the youngest of 14 kids, and no one in the family grew any lighter over the years. At the time of the article in Deseret News, we were still considered ‘dark and loathsome’ over a century later.
The same can be said of the racist ideologies in Mormonism. They’re not an old relic of the past, rather, they’re still the same. Mormon websites, and the 1980 Manifesto, are but a ruse to trick people today just as they did with my grandmother in 1875.
Shame on them for not denouncing the hate-filled racism that’s certainly not from God!
Pray for Jesus to burden hearts of the Mormon people, causing them to wonder why their canon is still filled with lies.
