February 8 – Trusting Wrong Translators. 2 Peter 1:20-21 “Knowing this first, that no prophecy of the scripture is of any private interpretation. 21 For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost.”

Ask a Mormon if they’ve ever seen, or read any info on the Dead Sea Scrolls. If you have the opportunity share the miracle of how God preserved them, and the process original scribes went through when God’s word was written. The good Lord would never leave such an important job with those who weren’t trained and educated to take special care of His story. The Bible tells us to beware so that we’re not led astray by the wicked who pervert His word – 2 Peter 3:17. The fact Smith pretended to interpret and rewrite scripture with no education is another proof he wasn’t a true prophet.

Journal of Discourses 15:247 – 249 “After Joseph had translated the Book of Mormon from the gold plates, the Lord commanded him to translate the Bible …. Joseph Smith, a man of no education or learning, comparatively speaking, was commanded to translate the Bible by inspiration.” – Orson Pratt, Salt Lake City, December 15, 1872
I didn’t know the Bible needed translating. Orson Pratt, like many of Joseph Smith’s followers, were likely not familiar with scripture. People go to church, go to Sunday School, participate in Bible studies, yet never:really
“search the scriptures” on their own. Instead, they wait for somebody like Joseph Smith to come along and tell them what God’s word says. If Orson Pratt had read his Bible, he would have known that it was wrong for Joseph Smith to add to or take away from God’s Word. If Orson Pratt had been familiar with God’s Word, he would have run from Joseph Smith as fast as his legs would have allowed him.
And why doesn’t main stream Mormonism use his false translation?
