May 29 – Matt. 3:16 “And Jesus, when he was baptized, went up straightway out of the water: and, lo, the heavens were opened unto him, and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove, and lighting upon him”.
_____
Although the exact year of Jesus’ baptism isn’t known, it can be safely assumed it was c. 27-30 AD. The reason for the significance of the date is for you to show the Mormon something new to think about as they look at the Book of Mormon. This part of the story in the BoM supposedly took place between 559-545 BC! How could Jesus be baptized 559 years before He was born?

2 Nephi 31:6 “And now, I would ask of you, my beloved brethren, wherein the Lamb of God did fulfil all righteousness in being baptized by water?”
“While they promise them liberty (salvation through being baptized by a priesthood holder), they themselves are the servants of corruption; for whom a man is overcome, of the same is brought into bondage.” (2 Peter 2:19). Once a person is baptized (saving ordinance) into the Mormon faith, they become servants of the Mormon church. Because the Mormons believe that they are only true church, they view salvation in terms of how faithful a Mormon your are
Notice in Acts 3:38, Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptised every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.
Baptism follows true repentance. You can be saved without being baptized, but you cannot be saved without true repentance. You can’t be baptised for the remission of sins.
Remember, Jesus wasn’t baptised for the remission of sins, He was sinless. Nor was He baptised at 8 years old.
Baptism means nothing if you haven’t already received the gift of the Holy Ghost.
