May 3 – Commitments. Luke 14:26-27; “If anyone comes to Me and does not hate his own father and mother and wife and children and brothers and sisters, yes, and even his own life, he cannot be My disciple. Whoever does not bear his own cross and come after Me cannot be my disciple”

Jesus told us that our commitment to Him must supersede our commitment to even our families. Our family, our friends, and every other person we consider near, and dear to us, mustn’t ever come between us and Jesus. In marriage, the only thing standing between the husband and wife should be the Lord. He’s the glue for every relationship, He’s the healer of every hurt, and most importantly, He’s the Only way to salvation.
You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. This is the great and first commandment” (Matthew 22:37-38).

General Conference, “Eternal Families,’ April 2016; “There is no more important commitment in time or in eternity than marriage.” — Henry B. Eyring
Old Henry B “Mr Tears” Eyring , has one goal in mind when he speaks, and that is to keep people committed to the Mormon Church. The church uses the family and marriage to keep people inside the Mormon orbit.
The church puts so much emphasis on marriage. Young people that are single are separated into Singles Wards or Mid-Singles Wards. They often feel incomplete and inadequate because they don’t have wives or husbands. Is is any wonder why Utah has the highest or one of the highest prescription rates foe anti-depressant medication. I understand that the majority of those prescriptions are given to Mormon women.
So what does the Bible say about getting married? According to Paul’s letter to the Corinthians (1 Corinthians 7), it is better to be single, because the single person can care for the things of the Lord while the married person cares for the things of the world
Also. 1 Corinthians 7:8,9, 27,33,34: “I say therefore to the unmarried and widows. It is good for them if they remain as I. But if they cannot contain, let them marry: for it is better to marry than to burn.Art thous bound to a wife, seek not to be loosed. Art thou loosed from a wife, seek not a wife. But he that is married careth for the things of the world, how he may please his wife. The unmarried woman careth for the things of the Lord that she may be holy in body and in spirit. But she that is married careth for the things of the world, how she may please her husband.”
