1 John 1:8 “If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us.”
There is perhaps no other basic way to describe why we need a Savior than the explanation mankind are born sinners. In that light, one of the fundamental teachings in Mormonism is the doctrine that mankind isn’t inherently sinful.
We looked high and low for a direct link to the LDS reference listed today, alas, none was found. We did find references to Smith’s talk in numerous locations with many stating it was ‘one of the talks of the century’. One of the references we did find is listed below, and rather disturbing because it’s in their LDS Seminary manuals which means it’s for the kids. For more info, see OLD TESTAMENT SEMINARY STUDENT MATERIAL.
Question:
How do they justify the need for Jesus if they don’t think they were born with a sin nature?
This is one of the main reasons why members find themselves in a state of constant confusion. When they’re teaching groups older than 8 year old kids, they’re taught they mustn’t sin, however, they’re also taught the fall of man wasn’t sinful which means they don’t have a sin nature.
Basic common sense tells us this is a huge contradiction on the part of the Church and its leaders. Pray for the kids who are subjected to the lies, and all members who’ve surely been exposed to this as well.
With Love in Christ;
