‘LAMED. For ever, O LORD, thy word is settled in heaven.’ Psalm 119:89
Our post today is a bit different than usual – PTL! Today we’re looking at two things that were totally new for me personally.
We’re starting with the verse listed above. For those who don’t know, ‘LAMED’ is the 12th letter of the Hebrew alphabet and it means to prick, or goad, as you would sheep. Hebrew4Christians.com is an excellent site to add for your everyday studies so be sure to check it out! It has some incredible info on ‘lamed’ you’ll not soon forget.
The other reason for pointing this out is a reminder for members of the LDS Church. We must always remember, no one has the right to add to God’s word. If you’re Christian, be sure to share your favorite verse from God’s word with the Mormon you know about this!
While checking on references for another article, I came across a BYU professor’s site where he talked about the ‘brilliance’ of Joe Smith’s translation of the Bible known as the JST. Oh dear…He went on to include the ‘missing’ parts of Jesus’ Sermon on the Mount, which of course means the Beatitudes. Today I’m asking that you share the chart included in this post with the Mormon in your life.
As you can readily see, the first two verses he added changed the Lord’s message altogether. Jesus’ comforting words turned into a sermon on how people are blessed because of what you might share with them. It has nothing to do with the Lord, and everything to do with puffing up the ego of man.
The Beatitudes were eight blessings Jesus spoke of, and they refer to the deep joy, or contentment, of the soul. It’s designed to explain that the person who experiences the first blessing/beatitude will then experience the second one, and so on. For more info, see GotQuestions.org.
Since the Church won’t step in and tell the truth about this, be sure you do!
With Love in Christ;
Michelle
Wouldn’t it be easier to list what he didn’t plagiarize?
The irony is rich is it not?
