October 13 – Everyone Born Sinful. Psalms 139:16 “Thine eyes did see my substance, yet being unperfect; and in thy book all my members were written, which in continuance were fashioned, when as yet there was none of them.”

Today there are two things to share with the Mormon you know! First, this is a great bible verse telling us that even in our mother’s womb, we’re found imperfect. This obviously disagrees with Joe Smith’s false prophecy that children are born perfect.
Secondly, this verse also shows how God knew us even before our bodies were formed which negates the whole theory of a pre-existence. Mormons like to use Jeremiah 1:5 as proof of a pre-existence because it says God knew him before He formed Jeremiah in the womb. The verse in Psalms also tells us God knew him before any part of a man was formed. Since the Mormon god isn’t omniscient, how could he know these things?

D&C 29:46-47 “But behold, I say unto you, that little children are redeemed from the foundation of the world through mine Only Begotten; 47 Wherefore, they cannot sin, for power is not given unto Satan to tempt little children, until they begin to become accountable before me.”
First, Joseph Smith never said that Children are perfect. If you’re going to criticize Joseph Smith’s teachings, first learn them. He said “Little Children shall be saved. They are alive in Christ and shall have eternal life…” Little children are innocent and not accountable for sin. Now you may want to condemn children, but that’s not what Joseph Smith said.
Second, your opinion about what we teach about God is also lacking. This verse, and Jeremiah 1:5 both support the preexistence of man. God knows us because we were present with him before the foundations of the worlds were laid.
D&C 29:46-47 is fine just as it stands, the word “perfect” isn’t in the passage anywhere. But thanks for sharing it. I’m sure people who are sincerely looking for truth will see the truth in it.
