October 3 – How was the Creator Chosen? John 8:57-58 “Then said the Jews unto him, Thou art not yet fifty years old, and hast thou seen Abraham? Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Before Abraham was, I am.”

Today take note of the busyness in what Mr. Talmage had to say about Jesus. Sandwiched between the rhetoric is a futile attempt at sounding Christian, while he worked overtime at confusing the average Mormon. Moreover, he lied with the fallacious claim Jesus was chosen to be the Savior!
_____
“We affirm, on the authority of Holy Scripture, that the Being who is known among men as Jesus of Nazareth, and by all who acknowledge His Godhood as Jesus the Christ, existed with the Father prior to birth in the flesh; and that in the preexistent state He was chosen and ordained to be the one and only Savior and Redeemer of the human race. Foreordination implies and comprises preexistence as an essential condition; therefore scriptures bearing upon the one are germane to the other; and consequently in this presentation no segregation of evidence as applying specifically to the preexistence of Christ or to His foreordination will be attempted.” James E. Talmage, Jesus the Christ: A Study of the Messiah and His Mission According to Holy Scriptures Both Ancient and Modern, 6.
Mr Talmage is using bits of disconnected scripture to try and prove Joseph Smith’s assertions to be true. The Pre-Existence along with Spirit Prison are two examples that I can think of off hand
Joe Smith imagines things being a certain way. He produces a certain narrative and story line regarding God, Creation, Mankind and Salvation. Later, Joe goes to the Bible to search for any small bit of isolated verse that will support his dangerous thought processes. Sure enough, he finds a verse here and an isolated verse there to support his ideas. Bottom line, if you try hard enough, scripture can be found that can support just about anything, HOWEVER, if that particular verse of scripture does not agree with every other verse in the Bible, then it should not be used to create or fabricate an entire religion. THERE ARE NO CONTRADICTIONS WITHIN GOD’S WORD. EVERY VERSE WITHIN GOD’S WORD (BIBLE) AGREES WITH EVERY OTHER VERSE OF GOD
