‘But Jesus said unto him, Follow me; and let the dead bury their dead.’ Matthew 8:22
Today we’re looking at an LDS site filled with quotes on what the Church’s leaders have said about temples. We’re comparing a few of the things they’ve said with God’s word, and what Jesus has told us.
You can read the full list at Temple Quotes. Tomorrow we’ll be checking out statistical facts about the cities for their new temples because the choices are quite bothersome. Here we go!
“Just as our Redeemer gave His life as a vicarious sacrifice for all men, and in so doing became our Savior, even so we, in a small measure, when we engage in proxy work in the temple, become as saviors to those on the other side.” — Gordon B. Hinckley
What happened to Jesus?
Acts 4:12 “Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.”
There are some things LDS leaders say that are scarier than others. This is one of those…
“There, in the house of the Lord, you can learn what you need to know to be truly free. There, tucked away from turmoil and strife, is the chance to be totally unselfish—a rarity in today’s world.” — Robert L. Simpson
Surely, Mr. Simpson knew about John 8:32!
John 8:32 “And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.”
In addition to the blasphemies they proclaim, we found a few Bible verses randomly sprinkled within its text. It’s just as the Lord told us in Matthew 7:15 to watch out for wolves. Listing the verse seen below is a ruse to deceive people. They don’t believe God’s Holy Spirit dwells inside of believers.
“Jesus answered and said unto them, Destroy this temple, and in three days I will raise it up.” — John 2:19
“Bible prophecies indicate that in the last dispensation of the gospel, there would be a restoration of all of the principles and practices of former dispensations, which includes temple-building and the performing of ordinances therein.” — David B. Haight
Where in the Bible does it say this? According to Jesus, He fulfilled all things!
Matthew 5:17 “Do not think that I came to destroy the Law or the Prophets. I did not come to destroy but to fulfill.”
Another random verse listed on the site. We’re praying for members of the Church to take a moment and think about this!
“And what agreement hath the temple of God with idols? for ye are the temple of the living God; as God hath said, I will dwell in them, and walk in them; and I will be their God, and they shall be my people.” — 2 Corinthians 6:16
While the following quote isn’t on the site referenced earlier, it’s important to be aware of because it’s how they look at life, and where their salvation comes from.
This last example here is another one from the scary files. How can this be true? What about all the people who live in areas where there is no temple? Besides all that, what about our Lord’s comforting words and reminder He provides direction?
“You are never lost when you can see the temple. The temple will provide direction for you and your family in a world filled with chaos. It is an eternal guidepost which will help you from getting lost in the ‘mist of darkness.’” — Gary Stevenson, General Conference, April 2009
John 14:6 “Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.”
Please, pray for those who listen to these talks, and then see/hear it again by visiting the Church approved websites!

“The Lord of Heaven And Earth dwelleth not in Temples made with hands.” (Acts 17:24)
If you don’t have God’s Holy Spirit living within you now (2 Corinthians 6:16), you are not going to find Him within the walls of an LDS Temple.
Even as an active member, I never felt the Spirit of God inside the temple. I could never understand all the tears, smiles and gasps for joy from members that had been to the Temple
Ever notice how during Fast and Testimony Sunday, there would always be members that would love to get up and bear their testimony about how many times they have been to the Temple?
I understand the “church” lost its tax exempt status a few years ago in the UK because the temple wasn’t open to the general public. Makes sense to me.
Jesus is our Temple.
WOW!! Could you imagine if that happened here?. If tithing was no longer tax exempt, what would happen to all the tithe payers? If all these prosperity gospel televangelists had to pay taxes on all the wealth they accumulate?
🙂 Too funny!
