Who Is The Mormon God?

‘I and my Father are one.’ John 10:30

 Today we’re looking at one of the contradictions in Mormonism. To say this is a major one would be an understatement! It’s little wonder members can be confused – unfortunately, it comes from the hands of its leadership. I realize we’ve looked at this before, but it bears repeating as you meet with loved ones during the holidays!

Check out what the Church said about their belief in the Trinity –

Mormon Godhead “The Trinity of traditional Christianity is referred to as the Godhead by members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. …Yet, Church teachings about the Godhead differ from those of traditional Christianity. For example, while some believe the three members of the Trinity are of one substance, Latter-day Saints believe they are three physically separate beings, but fully one in love, purpose and will.”

With that in mind, here’s what the Book of Mormon says –

2 Nephi 6:9 “…and he also has shown unto me that the Lord God, the holy One of Israel, should manifest himself unto them in flesh…”

2 Nephi 11:7 “For if there be no Christ there be no God: and if there be no God we are not, for there could have been no creation. But there is a God, and he is Christ, and he cometh in the fullness of his own time.”

3 Nephi 11:27 “…verily I say unto you, that the Father and the Son and the Holy Ghost are one…”

And here’s where it gets even more confusing with Joseph Smith’s ‘revelations’…

Doctrine and Covenants 20:28 “Which Father, Son and Holy Ghost are one God, infinite, and eternal, without end.” — April 1830

Doctrine and Covenants 54:1 “Behold, thus saith the Lord, even Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end, even he who was crucified for the sins of the world” — June 1831

Doctrine and Covenants 130:22 “The Father has a body of flesh and bones as tangible as man’s; the Son also; but the Holy Ghost has not a body of flesh and bones, but is a personage of Spirit. Were it not so, the Holy Ghost could not dwell in us.” — April 1843

If you’re LDS, which of these Mormon gods do you believe in?

Please, pray for everyone involved in Mormonism. May our Lord open their eyes, and soften their hearts to receive His love and truth!

With Love in Christ;

Michelle
