In virtually every book written by OT prophets just before the fall of Judah and Israel, God warned the Israelites to repent of their self-sufficient attitudes. No one responded to the call. God even warned them to change their ways through the prophet Isaiah, but they’d have nothing to do with it – Isaiah 2:11. Share with the Mormon how important it is for us to be humble before the Lord. Being self-sufficient spiritually is akin to tossing God aside! God hasn’t granted self-sufficiency to anyone. If we were to be spiritually self-sufficient, then why did God send His Son and His Holy Spirit?

“Christlike Attributes—the Wind beneath Our Wings” “As we strive to understand, internalize, and live correct gospel principles, we will become more spiritually self-reliant. The principle of spiritual self-reliance grows out of a fundamental doctrine of the Church that God has granted us—agency.” — Dieter F. Uchtdorf
