Finding Fulfillment in God

June 11 — Finding Fulfillment in God. James 4:8-9 “Draw nigh to God, and he will draw nigh to you. Cleanse your hands, ye sinners; and purify your hearts, ye double minded. 9 Be afflicted, and mourn, and weep: let your laughter be turned to mourning, and your joy to heaviness.”

Oswald Chambers’ devotional for June 10th spoke of asking God, but not receiving because you haven’t asked for the right things. Ironically, this is what Mormons do every time they pray Moroni 10:4-5.

He also mentioned ‘experience is a doorway, not a final destination…Beware of building your faith on experience, or your life will not ring true and will only sound the note of a critical spirit.’

As Christians we look for our fulfillment in Him, not others, and certainly not our own hearts! When we come to God for guidance, we must always ask Him: Lord what can I change? When we submit ourselves to Him, He’ll always show us grace. James 4:6.

Moroni 10:4-5 “And when ye shall receive these things, I would exhort you that ye would ask God, the Eternal Father, in the name of Christ, if these things are not true; and if ye shall ask with a sincere heart, with real intent, having faith in Christ, he will manifest the truth of it unto you, by the power of the Holy Ghost. 5 And by the power of the Holy Ghost ye may know the truth of all things.”
