Mormon God Needed Faith to Create

Lectures on Faith, 62 “The whole visible creation, as it now exists, is the effect of faith. It was faith by which it was framed, and it is by the power of faith that it continues in its organized form, and by which the planets move round their orbits and sparkle forth their glory.” — Joseph Smith

Hebrews 11:6 “But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.”

Our Bible verse today is a comfort for every believer. We’re rewarded with the presence of His Holy Spirit, and the gift of salvation He so willingly gave through His Son.

Unfortunately, Joseph Smith taught an effect of faith is seen in the creation of the world. Smith apparently felt God needed faith to ‘organize the elements’ to bring about planets, and other living things.

We must stop and ask the Mormon we know for their opinion about God’s creation, and be sure to use demonstrative evidence with them! A great resource can be found at Answering Genesis. His insight weighs heavy on my heart when it comes to my people, the Mormons. Here in part is what Ken Ham had to say –

“Our ability to trust God’s promise of salvation relies upon our ability to trust everything He says about history, from beginning to end. If we can’t trust His claims about the past, how can we trust His promises about the future?” — Ken Ham, Answersingenesis.org

We have to wonder what kind of god would need faith to create anything? Is this the type of god you’d want to worship? The god Joe Smith described isn’t to be found in the Bible!

With Love in Christ;

Michelle
