General Conference, ‘Cleansing The Inner Vessel,’ October 2010 “Priesthood holders carry with them the antidote to remove the terrible images of pornography and to wash away guilt. The priesthood has the power to unlock the influence of our habits, even to unchain from addiction, however tight the grip. It can heal over the scars of past mistakes.” — Boyd K. Packer
Revelation 1:5 “And from Jesus Christ, who is the faithful witness, and the first begotten of the dead, and the prince of the kings of the earth. Unto him that loved us, and washed us from our sins in his own blood”.
Where in the Bible does it say anyone but Jesus has the power to wash away guilt?
What 12-year-old boy who supposedly holds the priesthood, can heal the scars of someone’s past mistakes?
How does a male LDS member administer ‘the antidote’ to erase images of porn?
Who, specifically, has ever performed any of the things Mr. Packer mentioned in his speech? Has he done this?
Why would Packer say these things if he didn’t have first-hand experience with it?
If you’re LDS, we’re praying you ask yourself the questions we’ve listed above, and compare Mr. Packer’s claim with what it says in God’s word!
With Love in Christ;
Michelle
Prayer and faith in Christ can wash away guilt and sin, not being a Priesthood holder in the Mormon church. Again, the LDS church is trying to minimize and deny what Christ did for humankind and totally exaggerate and distort what the church can do for people, in the way of having a relationship with God through Jesus Christ. The church twists scripture around to make salvation seem much more complicated than what it really is. Salvation comes through faith in Jesus Christ a belief that He died for our sins and was resurrected, thereby, defeating the power of death, so that we may all live eternally with God. ( 1 John 1:6,7 and Romans 10:9,10) Forgiveness of sin comes through faith in Christ’s blood and a willingness to confess our sins (1 John 1:9)
The Mormon church has so twisted the Gospel of Christ, that it has arrogantly and without legitimacy, promoted the Words of the Church President (prophet), to be equal to God’s Own Words. Mormons are taught that every word spoken or written by their church president (prophet), is to be considered scripture. God and His Word are One. God’s Word is what created all things. God’s Word is so important to Him, that in Psalm 138:2, He tells us that “He has magnified His Word above His Own Name.” To make President Nelson’s words equal to that of God’s own Words , is blasphemous at best. The church gets away with that by down playing the relevance of Biblical scripture (Article #8 of Articles of Faith).
The Mormon church has taken the simplicity of the gospel and twisted it to serve the needs of the church. The Bible says absolutely nothing about priesthood holders having any kind of power to do anything. Any power we have on this earth is through the love and mercy of Jesus Christ.
The church takes the simplicity of salvation, namely Faith in Jesus Christ and adds a whole new set of man made laws which the church says are necessary for salvation. These new laws are confusing and without scriptural backing. The ways of the LDS Church might seem very bright and delightful to many, however, remember this; Satan can transform himself into an angel light. The likeness of this very bright angel, can be seen, dressed in sparkling gold, sitting on top of Mormon buildings and temples.
