General Conference, ‘The Exquisite Gift of the Son’, October 2020 “…at some point the full, excruciating guilt of every sin we commit must be felt. Justice demands it, and God Himself cannot change it. … We must never forget that the very purpose of repentance is to take certain misery and transform it into pure bliss. …
…through the staggering goodness of Jesus Christ and His infinite Atonement, we can escape the deserved agonies of our moral failings and overcome the undeserved agonies of our mortal misfortunes.” — Matthew S. Holland [emp. added]
Acts 3:19 “Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, when the times of refreshing shall come from the presence of the Lord.”
2 Corinthians 7:10 “For godly sorrow worketh repentance to salvation not to be repented of: but the sorrow of the world worketh death.”
Once again, we see more fluffy filler words from the mouth of Mr. Holland. Yesterday we saw how he referred to Alma’s pain for sin as ‘exquisite’, and today we see how his definition for repentance sorely lacks any hardcore truth.
By definition, repentance means changing your mind. One must change their mind about who Jesus Christ is, and what He’s done. This, of course, includes accepting where He did this which means the cross at Calvary, not the Garden of Gethsemane.
Mr. Holland made it sound as if mankind is the one responsible for this change, and at the same time alluded to the fallacy God can’t change the circumstances.
Truth: no one can repent unless God grants it. It isn’t up to us, nor should our change in behavior ever be referred to as, ‘pure bliss’. The heart of a true believer is remorse when they’ve sinned. After repenting, one will know peace and thankfulness for what Jesus has done, not because of anything we’ve done.
Furthermore, words like ‘staggering’, and ‘infinite atonement’, are hollow terms this church uses to divert attention away from truth. Is there a finite atonement, and if so, what is it?
Mr. Holland didn’t explain why it’s necessary to repent, rather, he merely inserted his fluffy filler words, the very purpose of repentance is to take certain misery and transform it into pure bliss’.
The reason why repentance is necessary is seen in the bible verses above – we find forgiveness of sins, salvation, and maintain our relationship with Him.
Share these truths with a Mormon today!
With Love in Christ;

Exquisite fluff… fluffy, fluff, fluff!!!
According to the LDS church, and Spencer W. Kimball, repentance is a 8 step process…
Principles of Repentance
– We Must Recognize Our Sins…
– We Must Admit To Ourselves That We Have Sinned…
– We Must Feel Sorrow For Our Sins…
– We Must Forsake Our Sins…
– We Must Confess Our Sins…
– We Must Make Restitution…
– We Must Forgive Others…
– We Must Keep The Commandments Of God…
And if you do all that, it’ll transform into pure bliss🤔
How do you get through General Conference twice a year, Michelle???
Does it take you the full six months to recover? It’s all FLUFF!
“If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us of our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness. If we claim we have not sinned, we make him a liar and his word is not in us.” (1 John 1:9,10).
God is also a merciful God. He doesn’t want us to be guilt laden for our iniquities. Guilt is something that both Satan and the Mormon church strive to make people feel. Guilt causes anguish, hopelessness, confusion, fear and an unhealthy spirit. Guilt is not of God, but is of man. God knows outr nature, that we are human. He takes pity on us because he understands our fleshly nature ( read Psalm 103:13,14)
“”Who is God like unto thee that padoneth iniquity, and passeth by the transgressions of the remnant of His heritage? He retaineth not his anger for ever., because he delighteth in mercy. He will turn again,he will have compassion upon us; he will subdue our sins; and will cast all our sins into the depths of the sea.” (Micah 7:18,19)
The Mormon church does not stress enough God’s infinite mercy. The church strives to create guilt and even fear in the minds of it’s members that don’t fully serve the needs of the church. No member wants to confess before other members, that they don’t attend temple regularly, complete their home teaching assignments every month, are full tithe payers, are fully prepared to teach lessons or give talks. Members that don’t comply to church standards (compliance), are sometimes even brought to the Bishop’s office for counseling.
God knows we are human. Even Paul talked about the war between his flesh and his spirit, and was quick to point out that he didn’t always win that battle (flesh vs spirit). Paul said that the things he knew he should do,he didn’t always do and the things he knew he shouldn’t do, he often times did.(Romans 7:8-25: Galatians 5:16,17)
“O wretched man that I am, who shall deliver me from the body of this death (sin)?. I thank God, through Jesus Christ our Lord. So then with the mind, I myself serve the law of God, but with the flesh, the law of sin.
” Knowing that a man is not justified by works, but by faith in Jesus Christ, even we have believed in Jesus Christ, that we might be justified by faith in Christ and not be any works of the law. for by works of the law, no flesh shall be justified (Galatian 2: 16).
In other words, fulfilling your callings, doing your home teaching and paying your tithes, isn’t going to get you into heaven. Faith is what God calls righteousness (Romans 4:2-5)
