‘Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you.’ John 14:17
Ensign, ‘From Banner to Compass’, December 2020 “For five decades, the Ensign, published in English, stood as a banner “to the nations” (Isaiah 5:26), calling to mind the hymn that proclaims, “Zion’s standard is unfurled” (“The Morning Breaks,” Hymns, no. 1). Beginning in January 2021, it merges with the Liahona, the international Church magazine published in multiple languages worldwide. The new Liahona will serve as a spiritual compass guiding us to our Savior, Jesus Christ, as we give “faith and diligence and heed” (1 Nephi 16:28) to the voice of the Lord and His prophets.” — Richard M. Romney
Isaiah 5:25-26 “Therefore is the anger of the LORD kindled against his people, and he hath stretched forth his hand against them, and hath smitten them: and the hills did tremble, and their carcases were torn in the midst of the streets. For all this his anger is not turned away, but his hand is stretched out still. 26 And he will lift up an ensign to the nations from far, and will hiss unto them from the end of the earth: and, behold, they shall come with speed swiftly”.
While the Church has been consistently inconsistent, there’s been one thing that hasn’t changed.
Their misapplication of Isaiah 5:26 has been a mainstay in LDS writings since its inception. They’ve used this verse as a sign the Lord has blessed them by providing a beacon of hope. This is actually a warning to the Israelites that God has had enough of their idolatrous lifestyle, so He’s called foreign nations to come in and cause great grief for them. The banner (ensign) is God’s rallying cry for foreign nations to conspire against His people.
Furthermore, the reference in the title of Mr. Romney’s article is another sign there’s something wrong. The compass he’s referring to, the ‘Liahona’, is from the BoM that was supposedly used to guide the Nephites. In reality, the ‘Liahona’ is nothing more than a magic 8-ball. See link for more info. The bottom line is that this is a form of witchcraft.
As the saying goes, they’re busy rearranging furniture on the Titanic. Sadly, their ungodly works lead people away from the Lord, not to Him.
Lastly beloved, true believers are already equipped with the compass of God’s Holy Spirit who directs them every day. 1 Cor. 3:16, 6:19.
Pray for the leadership to see the error of their ways, and for members to question what they’re reading in these ungodly magazines.
With Love in Christ –
Michelle
