June 26 — Highest Calling. Philippians 3:14 “I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.”

Some are called to be doctors, lawyers, police officers, or plant technicians, and some are called to be a mom. Every person on earth is the picture of a different calling.
However, those positions are a microcosm of what God has called each of us to fulfill.
Don’t get me wrong. I love being a mom, but more than that, my favorite role is being a child of the King! Nothing is more important to me than that goal. It has shaped every role I have in this life.
The LDS reference today has to be one of the saddest things I’ve come across in this ministry. It’s sad not only because it’s theologically wrong in every way, but it’s sad because of who delivered the message.
Sheri Dew is a highly accomplished woman who’s achieved prestigious positions in the Church, and business world. The one thing she’s not done is to fulfill the role of mom, which she said is mandatory for true salvation. That in itself isn’t wrong mind you, but her own words have damned herself.
We’re praying for Ms. Dew, and all other Mormons, who believe that parenthood is necessary for salvation. Ask the Mormon in your life what they think of Ms. Dew’s theory.

Ensign, ‘Are We Not All Mothers?’, November 2001 “Motherhood is more than bearing children. … It is the essence of who we are as women. … We just can’t let the Lord down. And if the day comes when we are the only women on earth who find nobility and divinity in motherhood, so be it. For mother is the word that will define a righteous woman made perfect in the highest degree of the celestial kingdom, a woman who has qualified for eternal increase in posterity, wisdom, joy, and influence.” — Sheri Dew
[…] LDS Highest Calling is Motherhood […]
You don’t understand Michelle, Sheri Dew is President Nelson 3rd celestial wife and will be busy having billions of the prophet’s spirit children, in the celestial kingdom 😉
It’s heart wrenching. I just can’t imagine … to be sure it’s not the heaven I imagine.
It’s a sad joke. Wether it’s true or not. But is it really out of realm of possibilities they didn’t have a secret ceremony. After all, the prophet wouldn’t let this righteous woman to miss out on the celestial kingdom.
You hit the nail on the head:
Bible readers are pursued in a courtship with Jesus and then there is a marriage ceremony. The marriage ceremony is not a sealing of spouses but is coming into union with Christ.
The Book of Revelation calls it the marriage of the Lamb. Revelation 19:7-9 Isaiah says, Jesus rejoices over us ‘as a bridegroom rejoices over his bride, so your God will rejoice over you.’ Isaiah 62:4
Paul says, ‘Wherefore, my brethren, ye also are become dead to the law by the body of Christ; that ye should be married to another, even to him who is raised from the dead, that we should bring forth fruit unto God.’ Romans 7:4
Jesus said, ‘he who loves father or mother more than Me is not worthy of Me; and he who loves son or daughter more than Me is not worthy of Me.’ Matthew 10:37.
We are give a guide by how much we love Jesus. We are give permission to love Him more. ‘If anyone comes to Me and does not hate his father and mother and wife and children and brothers and sisters, yea, and even his own life also, he cannot be My disciple.’ Luke: 14:26
