Burden of Salvation Requirements

September 8 — Burden of Salvation Requirements. Matthew 11:28 “Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.”

_____

There is joy in the life of those who follow the Lord, and that goes for everyone who follows Him even when we meet a rough patch in life. Our rest is found in knowing He paid the price for our sin, and fulfilled all works in the Law. Our works are as filthy rags… Is. 64:6.

Despite what Mr. Scott said below, there is no joy in living under the Law, and neither is there happiness. It’s burdensome, and provides no assurance of salvation. In a loving manner, ask the Mormon you know why they’d believe Jesus is the Redeemer if they still have works to perform for salvation.

General Conference, ‘Jesus Christ Our Redeemer’, April 1997 “While some may not understand or agree, I testify that it is not sufficient to be baptized and then live an acceptable life, avoiding major transgressions.

The Lord has decreed…additional ordinances and covenants … must be received for exaltation and eternal life. … You will keep the Sabbath day holy, exercise faith through the payment of tithing and fast offerings, consistently participate in Church worship, give service, and show love and appreciation for your family by helping each member of it. After you have received all of the temple ordinances, you will continue to grow by keeping the covenants made and faithfully “endur[ing] to the end.” …  Keeping the covenants is not hard when you do it willingly with a “broken heart and a contrite spirit.” When obeyed, those covenants bring happiness and joy. They give purpose to life.”  Richard G. Scott
