Music can be a powerful thing in life. Depending on the genre, it can stir the emotional plane in people like nothing else can. A quick look at early history from the Bible reveals hymns to worship God, and in the 18th to 19th centuries we saw the symphonic/chamber era with Chopin, Liszt, Bach, and Mozart.
The personal lives of many composers at the time were considered over the top by standards of the day, but people turned a blind eye because of the role music played on their emotions. If they thought those actions were outrageous, they’d have a coronary in what we hear today.
Most of what’s produced nowadays is nothing but Satanic, not to mention vulgar. Tragically, so-called ‘artists’ like that of Miley Cyrus, 50 Cent, and Macklemore fill the airwaves and heads of many in contemporary culture. The more outrageous the behavior, the more we see the numbing of human sensibilities caused from the onslaught of evil thoughts. The shock value for many is long gone.
Just so I’m making myself clear, the necessary inclusion of the Mormon Tabernacle Choir is a must for the last category mentioned. Well dressed Mormons blessed with great vocal chords aren’t exempt from producing Satanic music wrapped in the cloak of Christianity. Thus my surprise when devout Christians tell me they listen to the cult singing group. It doesn’t make sense to me, and it probably didn’t for those living at the time Mormonism took hold almost two centuries ago.
I have a tendency to look at the body of Christ through rose colored glasses, and want to believe if Christians had a working knowledge about these hymns they’d think twice about purchasing, or listening to, the sanitized public image of the Mormon Tabernacle Choir. This is one of the reasons we’ve included a new category on our sites. We’ll be adding to the list of articles on various LDS hymns, and placing them on the front page for easy access. Be sure to check back on our updates!
Our objective in doing this is to prompt Mormons, and non-Mormons alike, to read over the lyrics, and compare them with what God says in His word. I guarantee each one you find here neither glorifies the Lord, nor are they ‘Christian’ by any stretch of the imagination.
Please know this –
We’re not doing this to bash the Mormon people, nor are we doing this to shame anyone. Rather, it’s a call to action! Please know we’re praying for you daily!
Michelle

In our ‘Witnessing Tip of the Day’ for August 28th, we examined the lyrics of this hymn that venerates Joe Smith, and vows revenge against all unbelievers.
