Gathering the articles we wrote during Romney’s campaign made me wonder…what objective was achieved with all the Mormon ads?
When the Mormon Church came out of the woodwork like it did with the “I’m a Mormon” ad campaign, it gave us a good look at what their agenda was really all about. It also surprised us with Christians who threw caution to the wind just so they could show they weren’t voting for a hardcore liberal like Obama.
Today there’s little remnant of the commercials we once saw on the internet and sides of city buses or heard on television and radio. They’re rerunning a few of them in Iowa again (August 2013), but for the most part that’s about it.
Their ploy to start running them again might be something we need to keep our eyes on especially since they’re in Iowa of all places, but I still maintain their true colors have shown themselves through.
With the loss of Mitt’s presidential run the Church slithered into the background of everyone’s mind, the same place they were before Romney’s ill-fated jab to take up residence on Pennsylvania Avenue.
It seems their objective was to grab the limelight for political reasons so they could push their agenda. Little to no mention was ever made about Mormons wanting to be known for being at the forefront of any natural disaster in America or elsewhere for that matter. They’re the only people that know of the small amount of work they do…
Virtually no acknowledgement was made of the Church rolling up its sleeves and setting themselves up to be an outreach for the inner cities of America’s impoverished areas. And little to no mention was made the Church had any intention of wanting the secular world to know about Christ Jesus and Him crucified.
They didn’t convey to the public at large that hey, if you’re down and out, homeless, need help getting off drugs, you need a meal or whatever your circumstance; Jesus wants you to know He loves you and you can get help right here, right now, our doors are open with no strings attached. Nary was a word about real life circumstances mentioned.
No, the Church’s main objective was twofold. They wanted to be in the White House and they wanted to manufacture a self-fulfilled prophecy Mormonism would one day rule America. Their grandiose ideas of what it means to live in the kingdom of God has been rewritten by leaders of the Church from Smith on down.
Millions of tithe paying members of the LDS Church saw firsthand how their god spends their money. Furthermore, to say that religion and politics makes for strange bedfellows would be an understatement, yet they gave no thought to that scenario either. Nor did they stop to think; “Oh we shouldn’t do that because we’re a non-profit”… I just can’t picture Jesus asking for money to run million dollar ads to support a politician.
