Thought of the Day about Mormonism and Christian Behavior

Thought of the Day about Mormonism and Christian Behavior

Mitt Romney, Mark DeMoss at BYU and “True Christians”

Today I received a link to a story in the Salt Lake Tribune.  Lo and behold there was another evangelical telling me (and millions of other people) that evangelicals can’t “attack and demean Mormons or President Barack Obama and still consider yourself a follower of Jesus Christ”.

Mark DeMoss, told his “fellow evangelicals” that it’s impossible to abide by the Apostle Paul’s admonition to put others before yourself when you’re out to demonize people like Mitt.  Oh and he did this from behind the pulpit yesterday (January 25, 2012) on campus at the BYU Devotional.  Mr. DeMoss who runs a faith based public relations company just so happens to be an “unpaid advisor” for Mr. Mitt Romney.

Questions:

If I correctly point out the lies of the Mormon Church does this mean I’m attacking Mormons or Mormonism?

Or, am I being a good Christian by warning my brothers and sisters in Christ about the wolf in sheep’s clothing that keeps knocking on their door?

What about being unequally yoked – have you evaluated that passage of scripture (Deut. 22:10)?

What about James 4:4-5 that tells us friendship with the world is hostility to God?

Jude 1:3-4; “Beloved, when I gave all diligence to write unto you of the common salvation, it was needful for me to write unto you, and exhort you that ye should earnestly contend for the faith which was once delivered unto the saints. 4 For there are certain men crept in unawares, who were before of old ordained to this condemnation, ungodly men, turning the grace of our God into lasciviousness, and denying the only Lord God, and our Lord Jesus Christ”.

I realize there are websites and news columns out there filled with hate and they’ll go out of their way to spread their venomous message wherever and whenever they can.  I don’t recall a time in my life where I’ve hated Mormons or went out of my way to “demonize” the Mormon people.

However, I will go out of my way for the rest of my life to warn my people about the evils in the teachings of Mormonism.  There is a distinct difference my friend!

My message to Mr. DeMoss; please, don’t speak for me as an evangelical.  And until you’ve truly investigated Mormonism to the ‘nth’ degree you might want to re-evaluate the way you’ve presented your message of how evangelicals are demonizing Mitt Romney.
