1969 First Presidency Statement; “From the beginning of this dispensation, Joseph Smith and all succeeding presidents of the Church have taught that Negroes, while spirit children of a common Father, and the progeny of our earthly parents Adam and Eve, were not yet to receive the priesthood, for reasons which we believe are known to God, but which He has not made fully known to man.

Our living prophet, President David O. McKay, has said, “The seeming discrimination by the Church toward the Negro is not something which originated with man; but goes back into the beginning with God….” – Harold B. Lee, Prophet, December 15, 1969

1 Peter 2:9; “But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light”.

Interesting that the Apostle Peter never mentions skin color in his epistle. While speaking to all believers he did mention that we’re holy, a peculiar people and were called from darkness to light, but not one time did he say that black people couldn’t hold the priesthood. 

When looking for specific info in the Bible on topics, it’s important to look at what scripture doesn’t say. Don’t you think that if God didn’t want people of any color to hold the priesthood He would’ve mentioned this?
