False Prophecy of Joseph Smith

(New) Jerusalem is in Independence, MO

D&C 57:2-5; “Wherefore, this is the land of promise, and the place for the city of Zion.  3 And thus saith the Lord your God, if you will receive wisdom here is wisdom. Behold, the place which is now called Independence is the center place; and a spot for the temple is lying westward, upon a lot which is not far from the courthouse.  4 Wherefore, it is wisdom that the land should be purchased by the saints.. Behold, this is wisdom, that they may obtain it for an everlasting inheritance.”

Zechariah 14:3-4; “Then shall the LORD go forth, and fight against those nations, as when he fought in the day of battle.  4 ¶ And his feet shall stand in that day upon the mount of Olives, which is before Jerusalem on the east, and the mount of Olives shall cleave in the midst thereof toward the east and toward the west, and there shall be a very great valley; and half of the mountain shall remove toward the north, and half of it toward the south.”

This is actually a false prophecy by Smith.  Today there is still no temple in Independence, MO.  If they were to be there for an everlasting inheritance why aren’t they still there?  The Church does have some property there but only with a visitor’s center and a plaque in the ground that resembles a grave marker.
