Wanted Posters of Utah

Today while cleaning out my computer files I came across a wanted poster of the Mormon prophet John Taylor and his trusty sidekick George Cannon. This reminded me of my own notorious family member Butch Cassidy and one of his wanted posters I have sitting in a box of other family photos.

It’s interesting to think that aside from their wanted posters these three men have something in common.  While my uncle wasn’t wanted for polygamy, he too broke the twelfth Article of Faith in Mormonism and you can be assured he knew about this as his father was a bishop.

“We believe in being subject to kings, presidents, rulers, and magistrates, in obeying, honoring, and sustaining the law.”

Why would a prophet of God and other Mormon leaders break the laws of the land and at the same time proclaim their people obey the law? Make no mistake, I do not condone, nor am I making excuses for the immoral behavior of Robert LeRoy Parker (aka Butch Cassidy), however I have to wonder what the difference is between these three men.

The LDS Church has set up a fail proof system making it impossible for the leaders to be held accountable for their actions while allowing them to judge and condemn others.  So which sin is worse?
