Mormon Dilemma 690

Polytheism and Mormonism

Journal of Wilford Woodruff, April 10, 1852, as quoted by Wilford Woodruff; “Some have said that I was very presumptuous to say that Brother Brigham was my God and Savior. Brother Joseph was his God. The one that gave Joseph the keys of the Kingdom was his God, which was Peter. Jesus Christ was his God and the God and Father of Jesus Christ was Adam.” – Heber C. Kimball

Exodus 20:3; “Thou shalt have no other gods before me.

Deuteronomy 6:4; “Hear, O Israel: The LORD our God is one LORD.”

1 John 5:20; “And we know that the Son of God is come, and hath given us an understanding, that we may know him that is true, and we are in him that is true, even in his Son Jesus Christ. This is the true God, and eternal life.”

Colossians 1:15; “Who is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of every creature.”

Exodus 20:3 should suffice in our example to show it’s idolatry to place any other god in front of the One and Only God, however I’m using the other verses to show that all throughout scripture we see God telling us there is no other god. No one and nothing should be referred to as a god when we’re true believers.

The statement made by Mr. Kimball should tell people he was obviously not a God-fearing Christian man.
