False Prophecies of Mormonism Definition of Apostle

Teachings of the Prophet Joseph Smith, pg 74; “President Smith proposed the following question: What importance is there attached to the calling of the Twelve Apostles, different from the other callings or officers of the Church? . . . They are the Twelve Apostles, who are called to the office of the Traveling High Council, who are to preside over the churches of the Saints, among the Gentiles, where there is no presidency established; and they are to travel and preach among the Gentiles, until the Lord shall command them to go to the Jews. They are to hold the keys of this ministry, to unlock the door of the Kingdom of heaven unto all nations, and to preach the Gospel to every creature. This is the power, authority, and virtue of their apostleship.”

Ephesians 4:11-12; “And he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers; 12 For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ.”

As we saw in the article on the Church structure earlier this week, the office of apostle has nothing to do with the apostles of the Mormon Church.

If the Mormon apostles were to preach to every creature then why did they prohibit blacks from the priesthood?

Why did they not go to the Jews at the same time they went to the Gentiles?

Why did Joseph teach the apostles were to unlock the door to the Kingdom of Heaven when it had already been done 2,000 years prior?
