Mormon Dilemma 822 Don’t Share God’s Word

Moses 1:41-42; “And in a day when the children of men shall esteem my words as naught and take many of them from the book which thou shalt write, behold, I will raise up another like unto thee; and they shall be had again among the children of men—among as many as shall believe.  42 (These words were spoken unto Moses in the mount, the name of which shall not be known among the children of men. And now they are spoken unto you. Show them not unto any except them that believe. Even so. Amen.)”

Matthew 5:14-15; “Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid. 15 Neither do men light a candle, and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick; and it giveth light unto all that are in the house.”

This passage supposedly took place when God met with Moses and told him that Joseph Smith write the new Mormon canon.

What are the odds this papyri Joseph bought from the traveling salesman Michael Chandler just so happened to prophesy about Joseph showing up on the scene and he was just like Moses?  Keep in mind Joseph knew nothing about Chandler, rather Chandler heard about Joseph translating his golden plates and went to him thinking he might score a sale with the ancient writings his uncle had given him to raise money from.

Stranger still is why God told Moses not to tell anyone that doesn’t believe the story.  Why would God want to keep this a secret if He wants to see people get saved?
