Mormon Dilemma 891 A Valid Testimony

Seeking the Spirit, p 88; “In our day three fundamental truths are essential to a valid testimony: first, that Jesus is the Christ; second, that Joseph Smith is a prophet of God; and third, that The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is the only true and living church on the face of the whole earth. All valid testimony must embrace the spiritual witness that Jesus is the Christ, for “there is none other way nor name given under heaven whereby man can be saved in the kingdom of God.” (2 Nephi 31:21.)”. – Joseph Fielding McConkie

Romans 10:9; “That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved”.

I know, I know, this is my “go to verse” when we’re talking about testimonies.  But really, is there any other that encapsulates such a description of testimonies?

Ron Carlson once told me out in a parking lot of the church I attended that this one verse is the very heart of Christianity.  He grabbed the top of my hand and said in a very serious voice “Michelle, don’t ever forget this”.  If Ron was with us today he’d know I haven’t forgotten.

It’s so simple!  This is all there is to be saved!  We believe and confess.  The only person mentioned in this verse is Jesus.  It’s not Joseph and it’s not the Church which includes the apostles and prophets.  It’s ONE person. Jesus!  Thank You Lord!
