Mormon Dilemma 924 Jaredites Plagiarize Mark

Ether 4:18; “Therefore, repent all ye ends of the earth, and come unto me, and believe in my gospel, and be baptized in my name; for he that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned; and signs shall follow them that believe in my name.”

Mark 16:15-16; “And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature. 16 He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned.”

Today we’re taking a look at the numerous problems in just one verse found in the book of Ether which contains the story of the Jaredites who lived circa BC 2000 (Encyclopedia of Mormonism, p 717). Depending on which Mormon book you retrieve your info from that date can go all the way back to BC 2600.

1. Joseph Smith claimed there was no Greek or Latin on the plates (TPJS, p 299). The words baptized and gospel are Greek words. To compound the problem even more, those words weren’t even in existence at the time of the Jaredites!

2.Why are the Apostle Mark’s words found in these plates that were supposedly written more than two millennia before he was even born?

3.Why were people being baptized and told to believe the gospel when the gospel hadn’t been delivered yet? Abraham wasn’t even born at the time of the Tower of Babel which is when the BoM says the Jaredites lived
