Mormon Dilemma 984 Unquestioning Obedience

It means to successfully erase our doubts and reservations…”The more we believe, the easier faith-based obedience becomes. Hence the value of ‘believing all things.’…the philosophical standard of the world holds that unquestioning obedience equals blind obedience, and blind obedience is mindless obedience. This is simply not true. Unquestioning obedience to the Lord indicates that a person has developed faith and trust in Him to the point where he or she considers all inspired instruction — whether it be recorded scripture or the words of modern prophets — to be worthy of obedience…One day there will be answers to all our questions, and they will be based on divine fairness and love…” – Robert Oaks

Acts 17:11; “These were more noble than those in Thessalonica, in that they received the word with all readiness of mind, and searched the scriptures daily, whether those things were so.”

As Christians we know all things are possible when we believe (Mark 9:23), and we also know the Apostle Paul reminded us to believe all things in his discourse on love and charity (1 Cor 13:7), but that isn’t to say we just believe stuff because someone told us to do so.

Notice how the Bereans behaved. First we’re told they were more noble than others. They were ready, willing and able to receive new insights from the word of God. The one key element here is that they searched the scriptures daily to verify. 

Their loyalty to Jesus wasn’t in question, nor will ours be when we follow this example. Don’t be tricked into believing that blind obedience is okay or sanctioned by the Lord!  God told us to search all things to know if it’s true. 

This all boils down to one thing – or object if you will.  It’s about the Bible. Christians use the word of God to measure truth from error. Mormons on the other hand, have made a career out of maligning God’s word by filling heads with doubts which results in removing all standards and sources of how to verify and measure truth.
