1 Corinthians 14:36-38; “What? came the word of God out from you? or came it unto you only? 37 If any man think himself to be a prophet, or spiritual, let him acknowledge that the things that I write unto you are the commandments of the Lord. 38 But if any man be ignorant, let him be ignorant.”
Oh Brigham, Brigham, Brigham. Sometimes I’m not sure whether to laugh or cry when I read sermons like this. Mr. Young’s sermon is interesting for two reasons –
1.He thought the Bible was antiquated and refused to believe its ‘fairytale stories’, therefore using it like he does is nothing but a ruse to confuse.
2.His use of this particular scripture speaks volumes. Perhaps he should’ve taken notes on why Paul told people to let false apostles be ignorant…how ironic Brigham would take that out of context eh?
There’s nothing in the Bible telling us not to give out too much info on God! The only time we should keep our mouths shut is when the Lord says not to lie about Him. Hmmm…
This speech of Brigham’s was in reference to the Adam-God doctrine he was pumping at the time. This is where he deliberately chose to lie about God and introduce more false doctrines about Him.
Lastly, the best thing he could’ve done for the people was to tell the truth.
God gave very specific and detailed info on the creation of the earth, His ‘designs’ of how He would deal with mankind, and most importantly, because He loves us, He gave us a detailed blueprint on how to live a life righteously and in Him. It’s known as the Bible and without exception, I recommend it to every single person on earth.
