Dear Mormons: Whom do You Worship on Joe Smith’s Birthday?

 Journal of Discourses 7:289; “…no man or woman in this dispensation will ever enter into the celestial kingdom of God without the consent of Joseph Smith. From the day that the Priesthood was taken from the earth to the winding-up scene of all things, every man and woman must have the certificate of Joseph Smith, junior, as a passport to their entrance into the mansion where God and Christ are—I with you and you with me. I cannot go there without his consent. He holds the keys of that kingdom for the last dispensation—the keys to rule in the spirit-world; and he rules there triumphantly, for he gained full power and a glorious victory over the power of Satan while he was yet in the flesh, and was a martyr to his religion and to the name of Christ…” – Brigham Young, Great Salt Lake City, October 9, 1859

Luke 2:25-32; “And, behold, there was a man in Jerusalem, whose name was Simeon; and the same man was just and devout, waiting for the consolation of Israel: and the Holy Ghost was upon him 26 And it was revealed unto him by the Holy Ghost, that he should not see death, before he had seen the Lord’s Christ 27 And he came by the Spirit into the temple: and when the parents brought in the child Jesus, to do for him after the custom of the law, 28 Then took he him up in his arms, and blessed God, and said, 29 Lord, now lettest thou thy servant depart in peace, according to thy word: 30 For mine eyes have seen thy salvation, 31 Which thou hast prepared before the face of all people; 32 A light to lighten the Gentiles, and the glory of thy people Israel.”

In case you’re unaware, 211 years ago today (December 23, 1805), Joseph Smith, Jr.. was born in Sharon, VT. Since that time, Mormons have venerated him while singing the praises of, and to the man.

Regardless of whether or not, the Mormon today accepts what Brigham Young stated above, by default, they’re admitting its truth for them by simply being Mormon.

If Brigham Young’s theory is correct, how does one explain events in Luke chapter two?

The next time you have an opportunity to speak with a Mormon, take a moment and go over the following key words in this passage –

Key word/phrase 1. ‘the Lord’s Christ’

Question: does Smith qualify for this title? The Bible didn’t mention his name in the text!

Key word/phrase 2. ‘mine eyes have seen thy salvation’.

Question: If God’s salvation had already arrived, why do people need Smith’s ‘permission’ to gain salvation?

Furthermore, what’s Jesus doing in heaven today if Smith is ruling it ‘triumphantly’?
