Acts 7:48 “Howbeit the most High dwelleth not in temples made with hands; as saith the prophet”.
MormonNewsroom.org, ‘Plans Unveiled for Salt Lake Temple Renovation,’ 19 April, 2019
Acts 17:24-25 “God that made the world and all things therein, seeing that he is Lord of heaven and earth, dwelleth not in temples made with hands; 25 Neither is worshipped with men’s hands, as though he needed any thing, seeing he giveth to all life, and breath, and all things”.
‘…We promise that you will love the results…’ were the operative words declared by LDS prophet, Russell Nelson, earlier this month.
In the Church’s typical fashion, they’re investing millions on their already extensive list of temples; albeit this time to retrofit, and renovate the aging Salt Lake Temple.
Brigham Young had the honor of plunging the ceremonial shovel into Salt Lake’s hard ground, making it Utah’s third temple. The other two were St. George, and Logan. The estimated final cost ran about four million dollars – not a small amount in 1893. The cost should have been shocking to members, alas, they weren’t allowed to vote on a budget. As an FYI, at that time (1900) the median yearly income in America was $449.
Fast forward 126 years, and it’s the same story, just a different day. In regards to incurred costs of the reno, the Washington Post reported that “Leaders declined to say how much the project will cost”.
Not a surprise for many we’re sure.
LDS members might love the results, but we’re wondering…what about the Lord? Moreover, what does the Church do about the scriptures listed above? Also think about all the money they could’ve given to local shelters, or worldwide shelters…the list could go on and on.
If you’re LDS, please know we’re praying for you! We hope you’ll question why the Church doesn’t answer questions about these costs, and also wonder why they’d build temple to begin with.
With Love in Christ;
Michelle
