The phrase Alpha and Omega is one of the quintessential titles of our Lord. The very title and its meaning are self-explanatory. It envelops God’s relationship with mankind as we see in John’s revelations (see ref. below), as well as His interaction with man from the beginning of time.
One great example is found in Isaiah 43:10-11 when the Lord declared He’s the only God and there were none before Him just as there won’t be any others after Him.
With this in mind, we have a couple of questions today about a symbol on the outside of the Salt Lake temple. Whether it’ll make a showing after their renovation is unclear, but for now we’re wondering why it was there to begin with.
Just as God’s identity is seen in His name, the identity of LDS temples serves one purpose and that’s to perform rituals for godhood status.
Why would they have the alpha and omega sign on the temple when they don’t believe he’s the first and last?
Why would they want to believe there are other gods when God Himself said there are no others?
Ask the Mormon you know about these things and remind them how much you care!
Revelation 1:8, 11 “I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the ending, saith the Lord, which is, and which was, and which is to come, the Almighty. 11 Saying, I am Alpha and Omega, the first and the last: and, What thou seest, write in a book, and send it unto the seven churches which are in Asia; unto Ephesus, and unto Smyrna, and unto Pergamos, and unto Thyatira, and unto Sardis, and unto Philadelphia, and unto Laodicea.”
Revelation 21:6 “And he said unto me, It is done. I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end. I will give unto him that is athirst of the fountain of the water of life freely.”
Revelation 22:13 “I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end, the first and the last.”
