Mormonism’s Impossible Salvation

July 30 – Mormonism’s Impossible Salvation. Romans 10:9-10 “That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. 10 For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.”

There are a few things to take note of in today’s LDS reference. 1.They felt it necessary to complicate a simple thing God has given us as a gift. Their definition for salvation is rather laborious. 2.Their text says you can’t be saved in your sins. For the Mormon, this means there won’t ever be any salvation. Everyone is born a sinner and will eventually die as one as well. 3.The dates of when these supposed Mormon prophets lived were all in the BC era, so how did they receive salvation through Christ before Jesus was born? Nephi in 545 BC, Alma 82 BC, and Helaman in 30 BC.

Ask the Mormon for their opinion about this, and be sure to explain how God sees believers as righteous when we confess Jesus as Savior!

LDS Gospel Topics “Salvation. In the doctrine of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, the terms “saved” and “salvation” have various meanings. As used in Romans 10:9-10, the words “saved” and “salvation” signify a covenant relationship with Jesus Christ. Through this covenant relationship, followers of Christ are assured salvation from the eternal consequences of sin if they are obedient…

If someone were to ask if another person had been saved, the answer would depend on the sense in which the word is used…

Individuals cannot be saved in their sins; they cannot receive unconditional salvation simply by declaring a belief in Christ with the understanding that they will inevitably commit sins throughout the rest of their lives (see Alma 11:36-37). However, through the grace of God, all can be saved from their sins (see 2 Nephi 25:23Helaman 5:10-11) as they repent and follow Jesus Christ.” [emp. mine]
