July 30 – The Impossible Salvation of Mormonism. Romans 10:9-10 “That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. 10 For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.”

Is Mormonism True Christianity?

January 16 – Is Mormonism True Christianity? Today we’re looking at a subject in the LDS Gospel Topic Section of their website. I’ve become quite enamored with how the Bible provides answers to topics that speak directly to contemporary issues for us today. It’s a reminder that God obviously knew beforehand! Notice in their statement they make the accusation that sincere seekers of truth will accept their variant belief. Furthermore, freedom to worship as you please doesn’t mean you’re exempt from following rules. If you’re not worshiping the right Jesus, it still means you’re not Christian, regardless of what freedoms you may or may not have. Pray that God will open their hearts to this truth!

Mormon Terminology: Veil

Matthew 27:51 “And, behold, the veil of the temple was rent in twain from the top to the bottom; and the earth did quake, and the rocks rent.”
The LDS Church has gone out of its way to make a mockery of something in God’s most Holy works. The vail/veil.
It’s one of the key things Christians are most aware of in their walk with Him. Today we’re looking at the Mormon definition of the word veil, and comparing it with what our Lord has said in His word.
As we all know, the veil was rent in two at the death of Jesus, giving us direct access to God. It signified there would no longer be any need for sacrifices, as Jesus’ spilt blood fulfilled the Law. Never again would God reside inside a temple made of hands Acts 17:24.
Before we look at their definition of this important word, let’s see what God has to say! (more…)

“Since truth is the only meaningful foundation upon which we can make wise decisions, how then can one establish what is really true?” – LDS Apostle Richard G. Scott, 2007
The statement above by Mr. Scott would be admirable if only he’d live up to it. Indeed, how wise it’d be, not to mention believable, if he and the other well dressed men in Salt Lake would tell the truth. The latest essay put out by the Church is a stunning example of how they don’t practice what they preach.
One of the Church’s new essays, ‘Mother in Heaven’, is only six paragraphs long. As a matter of fact, the footnotes section is pregnant with more information than the actual montage of lies they tried to pass off.

Discovering Grace – Atonement

1 John 2:2 And he is the propitiation for our sins: and not for ours only, but also for the sins of the whole world.
As a Mormon I heard the word atonement used in odd and often confusing ways. Usually during General Conference I learned how I could apply it to my life, how it covered a multitude of things, how it would bring me personal strength, cleanse me and bring me happiness, and lastly how it will help me endure to the end.
Back then I was so clueless as to what the atonement was all about that, as a conversation starter, I asked a Christian woman in my homeschooling group if she believed in it. Looking back now I can’t imagine how bizarre she must have thought I was to even ask her such a question.

Gospel Topics, ‘Journal of Discourses’; “The Journal of Discourses is not an official publication of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. It is a compilation of sermons and other materials from the early years of the Church, which were transcribed and then published. It included some doctrinal instruction but also practical teaching, some of which is speculative in nature and some of which is only of historical interest…The content of the Journal of Discourses was transcribed, sometimes inaccurately, and published between 1854 and 1886 in England…The Journal of Discourses includes interesting and insightful teachings by early Church leaders; however, by itself it is not an authoritative source of Church doctrine.”

Gospel Topics, ‘Bible, Inerrancy of’; “As the Bible was compiled, organized, translated, and transcribed, many errors entered the text. The existence of such errors becomes apparent when one considers the numerous and often conflicting translations of the Bible in existence today. Careful students of the Bible are often puzzled by apparent contradictions and omissions…
In addition to the Bible, Latter-day Saints reverence and study the Book of Mormon, the Doctrine and Covenants, the Pearl of Great Price, and the words of modern prophets and apostles. All these sources of eternal truth work together to establish, clarify, and testify of the plan of our Heavenly Father and to bring people unto Jesus Christ.”
