We can know Mr. McConkie was lying simply by reading the Bible, and comparing it with Mormonism. The narrative of Mormon history reveals they’ve never wanted anything to do with Christianity. Moreover, there’s nothing in Christianity Joe Smith didn’t change for his own purposes.
Why would they denounce Christianity, and the Bible, and still want to be known as Christians if not for nefarious reasons?
