Since becoming president of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, President Russell M. Nelson frequently has extended an invitation to the people of the world that includes the promise of joy: “Our message to the world is simple and sincere: we invite all of God’s children on both sides of the veil to come unto their Savior, receive the blessings of the holy temple, have enduring joy, and qualify for eternal life.”6” — David Bednar
See Russell M. Nelson, “Let Us All Press On,” Liahona, May 2018, 118–19 for Mr. Bednar’s reference.
2 Corinthians 6:2 “(For he saith, I have heard thee in a time accepted, and in the day of salvation have I succoured thee: behold, now is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvation.)”
An article in the December Ensign obviously caught my attention this week. Just so I can keep myself from getting confused with their tactics, I’m only looking at one item of interest. You can be sure I’ll be visiting this again!
The article was about a speech Mr. Bednar gave at the BYU Devotional last year (2018). I have to say it’s one of the worst things I’ve read in a long time. As I was skimming through what Mr. Bednar had to say, I had to stop and read the advice he gave from their beloved prophet, Russell Nelson – not just once mind you.
Mr. Bednar pointed out Mr. Nelson’s ungodly wisdom of inviting dead people to Jesus.
While this is wrong in so many ways, the first thing I have to ask is what whatever happened to Moroni 10:26 where it says there are no 2nd chances?
“And wo unto them who shall do these things away and die, for they die in their sins, and they cannot be saved in the kingdom of God; and I speak it according to the words of Christ; and I lie not.”
Of course another major issue is that you shouldn’t be talking to dead people.
This particular edition of their Ensign was horrific. It seems the entire issue this month was focused on Mr. Nelson, and works for the dead in their temples; aka necromancy.
One example is from an article entitled My Special Temple Experience which is about an 11 yr old girl in New Delhi describing how the Church teaches people they can see their dead relatives inside the temple if/when they do proxy work for them. Very, very sad…
If/when you have time, look at a couple of them to use as a way to witness to the Mormon you know.
And please, pray for these people to focus on Jesus instead of their leaders!
With Love in Christ;
Michelle
