Ephesians 4:14 “That we henceforth be no more children, tossed to and fro, and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the sleight of men, and cunning craftiness, whereby they lie in wait to deceive”.
Mr. Packer’s talk has to be one of the scariest things I’ve read in Mormon literature. Shame on him, and the Church, for advocating such a thing.
If you’re LDS, we have a question for you.
Everyone knows when you make large purchases, there’s a dotted line that must be signed. You as a consumer will read over the contract before you sign to ensure you know what you’re getting into, and how much it’s going to cost. Every little detail should be in the contract, right?
If you’re so willing to sign a contract for something, doesn’t it stand to reason you should know what you’re getting into when you become a member of a church? Why would it be okay to NOT know what they expect? What if their interpretation of an unwritten tradition contradicts their scripture?
What if it contradicts what God has said in His word?
According to Mr. Packer’s words, this gives the Church a license to do whatever they want.
Certainly, a material object isn’t as valuable as your soul!
This is nothing but a morbid game of hide and seek where church members always lose.
We pray Mr. Packer’s talk serves as a wake-up call to everyone in the Church, and those thinking about joining! Obviously, your very life depends upon it!
With Love in Christ;
Michelle
