Cornerstone of the True Church

March 31 – Eph. 2:19-20 “Now therefore ye are no more strangers and foreigners, but fellow-citizens with the saints, and of the household of God; And are built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ himself being the chief corner stone”.

 _____

Nowhere in these two verses does it say that we must have prophets and apostles today! The verses tell us we are no longer aliens in the common-wealth of Israel and  goes on to compare the body of Christ to a physical building, Jesus Christ being the cornerstone. The prophets and apostles were a secondary foundation, with Jesus being the primary foundation of the church. Look to the teachings of the foundation the apostles and prophets laid for us – this is the true way to worship Him. The tense of the last sentence in this passage is past tense. It has already been built.

Don’t forget the words of our precious Lord who said those who worship Him must worship Him in spirit and in truth. Jn. 4:24
