March 31 – Eph. 2:19-20 “Now therefore ye are no more strangers and foreigners, but fellow-citizens with the saints, and of the household of God; And are built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ himself being the chief corner stone”.
_____
Nowhere in these two verses does it say that we must have prophets and apostles today! The verses tell us we are no longer aliens in the common-wealth of Israel and goes on to compare the body of Christ to a physical building, Jesus Christ being the cornerstone. The prophets and apostles were a secondary foundation, with Jesus being the primary foundation of the church. Look to the teachings of the foundation the apostles and prophets laid for us – this is the true way to worship Him. The tense of the last sentence in this passage is past tense. It has already been built.
Don’t forget the words of our precious Lord who said those who worship Him must worship Him in spirit and in truth. Jn. 4:24
_____
“Point 3. The true church must have a foundation of Apostles and Prophets. Eph. 2:19-20”.
I have the Bible. I don’t need Russ Nelsom or his strange sidekick, Henry “Tears” Eyring
Just as Michelle stated it says in Eph. 2:19-20 the foundation “WAS BUILT” again past tense. Now Heb. 1:1-2 says God, who at sundry times and divers manners SPAKE IN TIME PAST unto the father’s by the prophets,
2, hath in these LAST DAYS spoken unto by his Son, whom he hath appointed, heir of all things, by whom also made the world’s.
Jesus took care of this on the cross. My trust is in Jesus and His Word, (John 1:1), not a sinful man.
Melissa took the words right off my fingers!
