Ephesians 1:7 “In whom we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of his grace”.
Hebrews 9:22 “And almost all things are by the law purged with blood; and without shedding of blood is no remission.”
Leviticus 17:11 “For the life of the flesh is in the blood: and I have given it to you upon the altar to make an atonement for your souls: for it is the blood that maketh an atonement for the soul.”
By definition, we can’t ‘overcome our transgressions and mistakes’, through the atonement. Nor does it ‘resolve all inequities of life made by others’.
The transliteration for atonement is kippurîm, and means expiation. Dictionary.com defines it as ‘the means by which atonement or reparation is made’.
The blood of Christ was shed to cleanse us from the sins we’ve committed. As it says in Leviticus, life is in the blood, and Jesus’ blood (life) was given as a ransom so we can be forgiven, and gain eternal life.
This man’s talk was/is egregious to the core. I couldn’t think of a worse way to mislead, and deceive the Mormon people. To be sure, this will be in our next installment of ‘Worst of the Worst Quotes’.
As a designer for the nuclear sub Nautilus, Mr. Scott was a smart guy. His words go to show once again this is about the powers and principalities of the air, not flesh and blood. Ephesians 6:11-12.
It’s no wonder my people are so confused! Take time to show the definitive reason for our need of Jesus’ blood to cleanse us for our sin. Also share how this is the true definition of a covenant relationship with Jesus.
Mr. Scott’s talk was very lengthy. Over the next week or so, we’ll be looking at some of the other lies he told at this conference.
