Joseph Smith’s Broken Promise in D&C

Doctrine and Covenants 124:20-22 “Revelation given to Joseph Smith the Prophet, at Nauvoo, Illinois, January 19, 1841. … And again, verily I say unto you, my servant George Miller is without guile; he may be trusted because of the integrity of his heart; and for the love which he has to my testimony I, the Lord, love him. ²¹ I therefore say unto you, I seal upon his head the office of a bishopric, like unto my servant Edward Partridge, that he may receive the consecrations of mine house, that he may administer blessings upon the heads of the poor of my people, saith the Lord. Let no man despise my servant George, for he shall honor me. ²² Let my servant George, and my servant Lyman, and my servant John Snider, and others, build a house unto my name, such a one as my servant Joseph shall show unto them, upon the place which he shall show unto them also.”

Jeremiah 14:14 “Then the LORD said unto me, The prophets prophesy lies in my name: I sent them not, neither have I commanded them, neither spake unto them: they prophesy unto you a false vision and divination, and a thing of nought, and the deceit of their heart.”

Matthew 24:24 “For there shall arise false Christs, and false prophets, and shall shew great signs and wonders; insomuch that, if it were possible, they shall deceive the very elect.”

Earlier this year the Church announced the Doctrine and Covenants will be one of their main focuses of study for the year. In light of that we’ll be taking a closer look at some of Joseph Smith’s lesser-known so-called prophecies to compare them with God’s word.

Without a doubt, we’re praying members would stop and question what they’re reading as their leaders guide them through the maze of lies. It’s heartbreaking to think my mother and others just like her would buy into this.

The broken promises in the LDS reference above should give all members pause.

Less than a decade after Smith ‘prophesied’ about the love their god had in his heart for George Miller, he was excommunicated on December 3, 1848 because of a disagreement with Brigham Young.

If this was a true comment from God wouldn’t he have known Miller would apostatize and give Smith insight as well?

Moreover, what purpose does this serve in helping someone know more about Jesus so they can grow in their relationship with Him? As someone pointed out on our blog yesterday, their agenda is about their numerous programs, and has little to do with Jesus.

Please, pray for Jesus to intervene and cause members to question why.
